Black Op's Perk Guide

Unlocking all of the pro perks takes a bit more challenge and time in Black Ops than in any other Call of Duty game, but here’s some quick tips and strategies you can use to help you unlock them a bit faster and with a little less frustration.


TIER ONE PERKS:


LIGHTWEIGHT – Move faster. PRO: No fall damage.

How do I get Lightweight Pro?

Melee Kills – Earn 15 melee kills. TIP: Select Lightweight as your first tier perk and play Free-for-All. You will have a bigger chance of being in a close range battle in Free-for-All due to the maps being generally smaller and easier to obtain melee kills in. Also, try to equip the ballistic knife since the recovery speed from the melee attack is a bit faster.

Escape Death – Escape death 5 times after being hurt. TIP: In any match, stay behind cover or use your objective as cover so when you are defending, the enemy will try to throw grenades and shoot you down, but you can try to just run away and hide.

Offense Medals – Get 10 Offense Medals by killing enemies near their objective. TIP: Play Headquarters, Demolition, or Sabotage, since the enemy will more likely stay close to their objective to protect it from being captured.

SCAVENGER – Pick up ammo from fallen enemies. Replenish lethal grenades. PRO: Start with extra mags. Replenish tactical grenades.

How do I get Scavenger Pro?

Resupplies – Resupply 150 times while using Scavenger. TIP: Play Ground War because there are 18 people in a match and you can resupply more quickly than in any other mode.

Grenade Kills – Get 5 Lethal Grenade kills with a resupplied grenade. TIP: Pick up grenades from fallen enemies and throw them when the enemy is trying to capture the objective. (Domination or Headquarters work the best due to the time given to prevent the enemy from capturing your objective)

Kill Count – Get 5 kills without dying 5 times. TIP: Play Domination in Ground War and protect one of your flags by waiting behind cover while the enemy is trying to capture it.

GHOST – Undetectable by the Spy Plane and the Blackbird. PRO: No red cross hair or name when targeted

How do I get Ghost Pro?

Concealed Kills – Kill 20 enemies while they have a Spy Plane or Blackbird active. TIP: Play Free-For-All and make sure you cover the whole map to find any enemies that are on a kill streak.

Destroy Aircraft – Destroy 30 aircraft with any non-Kill streak launcher. TIP: Equip any Aircraft Lock-On Rocket Launcher as your secondary weapon and listen for the game commentator to mention “Plane Approaching” and pull out your launcher to shoot it down. Do that 30 times in any mode.

Destroy Sentry Gun – Destroy 1 Sentry Gun. TIP: The enemy will most likely plant a sentry gun near one of their objectives to be able to protect it, so you can just give the enemy a sentry gun by calling in the package near their spawn, then camp and wait for the enemy to take the care package. Then follow the enemy and when they plant the sentry gun down, destroy it.

FLAK JACKET – Reduces explosive damage. PRO: Immune to fire damage and allows you to safely toss back frag grenades.

How do I get Flak Jacket Pro?

Protected – Survive 10 explosions while using Flack Jacket. TIP: Play Domination and stay near your objective so when the enemy throws grenades from a distance you can run away and try to survive the explosion.

Demolished – Plant or defuse 10 bombs in Demolition, Sabotage, or Search & Destroy. TIP: It is easier to plant a bomb then to diffuse it due to the enemy camping near it trying to protect it from being diffused, so in the beginning of a match, make sure you are using lightweight and marathon perks and immediately run to the enemy bomb and plant it. Do that 10 times and you will complete the challenge.

Throwbacks – Throw back 5 enemy Frag grenades. TIP: Play Headquarters and stay right next to the objective so when the enemy throws grenades from a distance before trying to capture it, you’ll have the time to throw it back.

HARDLINE – Kill streaks require 1 less kill. PRO: Change the contents of a Care Package.

How do I get Hardline Pro?

Share Packages – Share 10 Kill streak reward crates with teammates. TIP: Select Sam Turret and the Care Package as 4 and 5 kill streaks. By using the Hardline perk, you can get the Sam Turret in three kills, and the Care Package with four, so as soon as you get three or four kills deploy your care package where your team spawns and just leave it for one of your team mates to obtain it. Not only will you get the challenge completed by doing this ten times but you will also get 200 points for sharing your care package.

Multiple Kill streaks – Earn 7 kill streaks in one match while using Hardline. TIP: The fastest way to complete this task is to play Ground War and select the Spy Plane as your first kill streak. By using hardline you will obtain it just after two kills, so just rinse and repeat that seven times in one match.

Killstreak – Get 7 kills without dying in one match. TIP: Play any objective based match and protect your objective by hiding behind cover.

TIER TWO PERKS


HARDENED – Bullets penetrate better. PRO: Bullets do extra damage to air crafts and turrets. Reduced flinch when you are shot.

How do I get Hardened Pro?

Penetration Kills – Get 10 kills using Hardened and shooting through walls. TIP: Play any map that has a lot of outdoor space (ex: WMD, Jungle, Array) and look for enemies that are scouting from balconies or windows and just shoot the wall they are behind to kill them through their cover so you can complete the task after doing this ten times.

Bullets in Aircraft – Shoot 200 bullets into enemy aircraft. TIP: Play Ground War as there are usually more planes in the air so just keep an eye out on the sky. When you see a plane, just use any weapon and keep shooting at the planes until you run of out ammo, rinse and repeat until you hit two hundred bullets and complete the challenge.

Equipment Shot – Destroy 1 piece of enemy equipment through a wall. TIP: Equip Hacker as your third perk and play in Free-for-All or Team Deathmatch and you will easily be able to see a claymore in a room marked as red across the map, so just shoot it down through the wall and you will complete the challenge.

SCOUT - Hold breath longer. PRO: Faster weapon switching.

How do I get Scout Pro?

Secondary Kills – Get 50 kills with secondary weapons. TIP: Equip any pistol as your secondary weapon and play Free-for-All as there are more opportunities for close range battles and the pistols take three to four shots to kill someone so the smaller maps will help you rack up those secondary close range kills.

One Shot Kills – Get 50 One Shot, One Kill Medals. TIP: Equip a sniper with the highest damage rating that you have unlocked and protect your objective from a distance by shooting down enemies trying to capture it.

Head shots – Get 30 Head shot kills. TIP: Equip any sniper rifle and when targeting an enemy, hold your breath by holding the L3 button so it is easier to aim for the enemies’ head and obtain a head shot kill. Do that thirty times in any match and you will complete the challenge.

STEADY AIM – Increased hip-fire accuracy. PRO: Quicker aiming after sprinting and quicker recovery from knife lunge.

How do I get Steady Aim Pro?

Quick Melee – Melee two enemies consecutively within 5 seconds. TIP: Play Free-for-All in the Nuke Town or Firing Range maps and use Lightweight and Marathon as your perks so you can run up to enemies quicker and knife melee kill them.

Sprint Kills – Get 100 kills after sprinting. TIP: In any match, equip the marathon and lightweight perks to be able to run through the map longer and get to enemies faster by sprinting constantly.

Hip Fire Kills – Get 150 hip fire kills using Steady Aim. TIP: Play Free-for-All or any objective based match so you have a better chance of being in a close range battle such as covering an objective and hip fire killing enemies that try to capture it.

SLEIGHT OF HAND – Faster reloads. PRO: Faster aiming down sights with non-scoped weapons.

How do I get Sleight of Hand Pro?

Aiming Kills – Get 150 kills while aiming down sights. TIP: Equip an Assault Rifle with Red Dot or Reflex Scope and hide behind cover so you can aim down the sights of your gun and kill more enemies.

Reload Kills – Kill an enemy within 5 seconds of reloading 30 times. TIP: Play Free-for-All on smaller maps like the Firing Range or Nuke Town and stay near a high traffic spawning section. (ex: By the fence on each side of the Nuke Town map)

Fast Hand Kills – Reload and finish off the enemy you wounded 10 times. TIP: Equip any Assault Rife with a scope and from a distance, aim down your sights. Burst fire just once, then quickly reload and finish off your enemy.

WARLORD – Equip two attachments to your primary weapon. PRO: Start with 1 extra lethal and tactical grenade (except smoke).

How do I get Warlord Pro?

Two Attachment Kills – Get 150 kills using a gun with two attachments. TIP: Equip any sub machine gun or assault rifle with a scope and extended mags. This way you have a larger ammo clip and can aim down sights accurately to take down more enemies.

Grenade Kills – Get 10 Frag or Semtex kills. TIP: Play any objective based match and defend your objective by throwing grenades when the enemy is trying to capture it.

Grenade Multi-kills – Get 1 multi-kill with Frag or Semtex. TIP: Equip a Semtex grenade and play Domination or Headquarters. When you see that the enemy is capturing your objective, try throwing and sticking your grenade right in the middle of the flag or bomb so you have a better chance of taking out multiple enemies at once.

TIER THREE PERKS


MARATHON – Longer sprint. PRO: Unlimited sprint.

How do I get Marathon Pro?

26 Miles – Sprint 26 miles using Marathon. TIP: Play a larger outdoor map (ex: WMD, Jungle, Array) and run around the edges of the map so you increase your chances of survival while running long enough to complete the challenge.

First Blood – Get the First Blood Medal 10 times. TIP: Select Lightweight and Marathon as your perks and at the beginning of any match, run to the objective of enemy spawn point and get the first kill of the match. After ten times of receiving the First Blood Medal you will complete the challenge.

Captures – In Capture the Flag, get the Flag Capture Medal 15 times while using Marathon. TIP: Select Lightweight, Steady Aim, and Marathon, as your perks and run for the enemy flag first and hip fire if you encounter any enemies along the way. Capture the flag fifteen times and you will complete the challenge.

NINJA – Silent movement. PRO: Louder enemies. Your footsteps are completely silent.

How do I get Ninja Pro?

Silenced Kills – Get 150 kills using the Suppressor attachment. TIP: The best weapon to use with a silencer attachment to complete this challenge is the Galil assault rifle. Due to its lower recoil and bigger range it would be easier to obtain the one hundred and fifty kills needed for this challenge.

Back Stabs – Get 5 Backstabber Medals. TIP: Play Free-for-All and try to equip the Ballistic Knife which is a much easier way to get the fast melee kills than the standard knife due to its fast recovery time from the melee attack.

Plants – Plant the bomb 10 times in Demolition, Sabotage, or Search & Destroy. TIP: Select Lightweight and Ninja as your perks and at the beginning of a match immediately sprint to the enemy bomb that is not in the middle of the map. This way if you concentrate on being first to plant the bomb that is farther away from the frequently visited area you will have a better chance to plant it first. Use that technique ten times to complete this challenge.

SECOND CHANCE – Pull out your pistol before dying. PRO: Survive longer and any teammate can revive you.

How do I get Second Chance Pro?

Kills – Get 10 kills while in Second Chance. TIP: Equip a higher damage rate pistol such as the Python and try hurting your enemy with your primary weapon by just burst firing once so that when they bring you down into second chance you will be able to finish them off faster since they are already hurt. Kill ten enemies while you are on the ground in second chance to complete this challenge.

Revenge – While in Second Chance, kill the enemy who downed you 5 times. (use same tip as above)

Headshot – Get 1 headshot kill while in Second Chance. TIP: Try to equip a pistol as your secondary weapon that has burst fire such as the CZ75 and aim for the head while you are in second chance.

HACKER – Ability to detect enemy equipment and explosives. PRO: Can sabotage enemy equipment, turrets, and crates. Invisible to Motion Sensors.

How do I get Hacker Pro?

Destroys – Destroy 10 equipment or explosives while using Hacker. TIP: Play Free-for-All and scout the map for the red marked claymore icons which you can see through walls. Destroy ten of them and you will complete this challenge.

Explosive Kills – Kill 25 enemies with a Claymore or C4. TIP: Play Domination and plant a claymore each time you spawn right next to one of your flags and just wait until the enemy tries to capture it. You will complete this challenge faster by using this technique since the enemy will come to your claymore by trying to capture your objective.

Near Equipment Kills – Kill 25 enemies within the radius of your Jammer or Motion Sensor. TIP: Similar to the tip above. Just plant a motion sensor or jammer near your objective and take down enemies while they are trying to capture your objective.

TACTICAL MASK – Protects against gas grenades. PRO: Reduces the effects of flash and concussion grenades. Reveals the position of a flashed or stunned enemy.

How do I get Tactical Mask Pro?

Flash Kills – Kill 20 enemies that are blinded by your Flash bang. TIP: Play any objective based match and throw flash grenades at the objective that your enemies are currently capturing. Then, while the enemies are blinded by your grenade, you can quickly wipe them out to complete this challenge.

Concussion Kills – Kill 20 enemies that are stunned by your Concussion Grenade. TIP: Use same technique as the tip above.

Nova Gas Kills – Kill 20 enemies poisoned by your Nova Gas. TIP: Use same technique as the Flash kills tip above.
