The latest Gran Turismo 5 update (v1.03) has brought with it mechanical damage. Although with an up-side also comes a down-side. And the down is pretty annoying. There has been a few reports that the update has wiped some players complete car collections. This has seen them reinstall the game from scratch. Ouch, how annoying!
