Cypress Hill Rapper Sues Rockstar for $250 Million
Cypress Hill's Michael "Shagg" Washington thinks Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas star Carl "CJ" Johnson looks a little too familiar. The rapper has filed a lawsuit against Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, claiming the developer and publisher used his likeness in one of the most popular videogames of all time without his knowledge -- and more importantly, without paying him.
"Upon examination of images of CJ and comparison to his photos from that year and other evidence, it became clear that Rockstar had stolen his image and never paid him."
Alleging fraud, misappropriation of likeness, and infringement, Washington is seeking $250 million -- roughly 25% of the 2004 game's total profits.
